The human condition inspires Harriet as an artist and on a grander scale she believes that it is the human condition that inspires us all to leave something behind.

The idea that we are ALL bound to each other by a common thread and that we all share an eternal memory is a concept that fuels her inspiration.

Making art for her is a way to make connections, as well as, a way that allows others to connect to her work through their own creative experience and interpretations.

She hopes that her art provokes a reaction and dialogue where one can, not only discover a glimpse into her story, but where one can follow the thread to our common, universal story.

The artwork she creates is abstract with a reference to the tangible world around her. Each piece starts in an abstract way of applying paint. Colors are splashed, scraped and pulled onto the surface; be it, canvas or paper. Then the fun begins. Inspiration comes from the paint itself and how it falls and interacts with the surface. Sometimes the image is abstract. At other times an image appears that has a more representational, natural and organic feel. From there inspiration propels itself through the journey, language and process of art making.

Harriet was born in Greece and has lived in the US most of her life. She now makes Florida her home living there with her family in a quaint little community by the Gulf, reminiscent of her Mediterranean roots. Her work is inspired by the gulf coast; its beautiful blue sky, water and amazing and vibrant sunsets.
